Bright is now a B Corp
The eagle-eyed amongst you may have noticed a little change on our social channels last month, but we’re excited to more officially announce Bright has passed its accreditation and is now B Corp Certified!

What is a B Corp?
Certified B Corporations (or B Corps for short) are companies that have been verified by B Lab to meet high standards of their commitment to social and environmental impact through performance, transparency and accountability.
There are now over 9,500 B Corps globally across 105 countries and 160 industries and we’re proud to be part of such an important global movement.
What does this mean for us?
In all honesty, not a lot. The reason why we were attracted to the B Corp Accreditation in the first place was because it aligns with a lot of the business practices we were already doing.
What the process has done though is put a firmer structure and refine some of our processes so that we make sure that we’re not only sticking to what we believe in, but also create a roadmap of how to continually strive to be better.
The main internal change is in how we report and measure our impact both socially and environmentally and being transparent with those results. These will be released as part of annul impact reports, with the first dropping very soon.
What does this mean for our clients?
Again, not a lot. All of our events team are already trained on sustainability as part of our membership at isla, so what B Corp mostly does is give us a stamp of legitimacy that we wouldn’t ask our clients to do anything we’re aren't willing to do ourselves.
It allows us to advocate for a fairer and more sustainable events industry, and hopefully find and attract likeminded partners at every part of the event production process from suppliers and venues to clients themselves.
So, what's next?
Seeing as we have only just been accredited, we don’t have to go through the process again for a couple of years, but doesn't that mean we'll be stopping our journey as it's all a continuous process of improvement. Our next assessment will be with the new B Corp Standards which have scrapped the point system in favour of minimum standards across all areas (with a few extra too).
As mentioned in our PurposeFest round up, we think these new standards are a great evolution to make sure as a collective all B Corp organisations working towards the same goals, not just some of them. So, in that spirit, we’ll be busy making sure we’re on track to pass all the criteria with flying colours.
